Unofficial Matrox Driver Updates for Linux

I'm providing unofficial updates to Matrox display drivers for Linux, because Matrox doesn't update their drivers on a regular basis.
Nearly all new Xorg, kernel, whatver versions break the official Matrox drivers and this very site is the only source to get updated drivers on the net.

What driver is the right one for me?

Basically, there are two major driver branches available:
  • MGA (G-series cards like G200, G400, G450, G550, Epica TC2, ...)
  • MTX (P-series cards like P650, P750, Parhelia, QID, APVe, Epica TC4, ...)

To determine the type of your installed graphics card, use the `lspci` command on your Linux system.

Example output for a G-series card:
# lspci
06:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450 (rev 85)
Example output for a P-series card:
# lspci
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millenium P650/P750 (rev 02)

Both drivers are available for 32bit and 64bit systems and can be downloaded from the links on the left side of this page.

Is there any support for these drivers?

Of course, but no official one.

I created a support forum for all your problems, issues, questions and demands regarding Matrox graphics cards on Linux systems and other stuff.
You're welcome to sign up at the forum and ask for help, report success or help me in helping others if you are familiar with Matrox graphics cards on Linux systems.
